It’s all about large and vintage around here……

I have just completed this large Grandmother’s Garden quilt.

Grandmothers Garden one

Instead of the usual round flower beds these ones are a elongated shape. I loved looking at all the fabrics used, lovely vintage pieces and some clever fussy cutting.

I quilted the hexagons with big soft flower shapes, which I think look like cabbage roses.

A nice plump classic feather seemed the perfect finish on the borders.

I love Hexi quilts.

Peggy’s Fairy Garden

Two years ago our Sweet Pea Project for the year was a Row by Row Round Robin. Peggy put some fairy fabric and flower fabric in her bag and requested a Fairy Garden themed quilt. Here are the rows that were made for her.

After some time in a dark place to mature Peggy pulled out her rows, added some extra Fairy themed fabric and made this super quilt.

I soft custom quilted it for her. Different stitching for each row.

Since completion the quilt has gone on quite a journey. You can read about it here on Peggy’s blog.

Anyone for frozen hydrangeas?

This morning tucked up cosy and warm I prepared for a morning of sewing and sharing with Tracey who wanted to learn how to foundation piece patchwork.

We both stitched a heart and after Tracey left I made my heart into a mug rug.

I keep forgetting to show you a Kiwiana quilt that Peggy made and I quilted.

Isn’t that an interesting pattern?

Sixteen patches and pinwheels. Simple but very effective.
