Sweet Peas…..

Another happy gathering of Sweet Peas.

Rochell has put her RxR together. She has put it together a little differently which really suits her quilt. Her theme was Life is a Beach.

Recently Margaret attended a workshop with Yoko Saito. This is what she made:

Debbie has completed the wall hanging she was given a Kit for:

The cat looks so like Debbie’s cat Peekie. Aren’t the whiskers great. Debbie used Quilting cotton stiffened with glue to make them.

Debbie is making another Row x Row quilt. Her theme is the three Cs. That’s Coffee, Chocolate and Cats.

I like that combo!

Thanks for popping by. If you’ve been wondering where I have been, well life has been busy. Family stuff, a trip up to Auckland and life in general has been rather full on . Added to that my laptop had to go to intensive care. Blogger via I Pad and I don’t get along. I have lots to share so I’ll be catching up in the next few days.

Big Sister

Do you remember when I quilted the Little Girl’s Quilt ?

Well here’s her Big Sister:

 Big Sister1 IMG_1378_1

Such a pretty feminine theme to this quilt. It lent itself perfectly to Feathers and lots of curvy fills.

That striped fabric reminds me of floral wall paper with a trim. I stitched straight lines down the stripes, out lined the flowers and filled the V shape between the flowers with small McDazzle.

The centre piece stitched with clam shells.

Thanks for asking me to quilt for you Terri.

Kaye’s quilt

This is Kaye’s first quilt. I think it’s one of the nicest Jellyroll quilts I have seen.

Sugar clams in the body of the quilt, paisley in the outer border and a bit of highlight stitching on the flowers.

The fabrics are such rich colours and the big flowers add some pizazz.

Thank you for entrusting your first quilt to me Kaye.

Hexi Magic

When we attended  Rotorua regional day for quilters I was fascinated by this Hexi quilt.

Hexi 4

I like both the colours and the layout:

The really amazing part is these are ¼ ˝hexagons!

The pattern is a replica of an old Australian quilt. The pattern “Dear Prudence” is available from Gum Valley Patchwork.

Today we rescued a Damsel in distress

…………….look at this lovely damsel:

D in D twoIMG_1348_1

How about this for a haughty look?

D in D profileIMG_1350_1

Look at this lace. All home made and hand stitched on. All of this vintage treasure has been hand stitched even the binding.

D and D lace trimIMG_1351_1

The posy she is holding forms a wee pocket. It is a tiny bit damaged on the top there, just to the right. I have sneaked some lick and stick in behind the tear. Some tiny secret stitches and a new line of stem stitches and it will be as good as new.

Some marks to remove, a good soak and starch then this apron will be on its way to a special girl.
