Taupo’s got talent

A while a go I mentioned that I was quilting an item that was going to entered into a competition. The competition was organised by Nutex Fabrics (they make all the Kiwiana themed fabrics) and the New Zealand Quilter magazine.

Rochelle designed a Kiwi Christmas tree using Kiwiana Fabrics cut in Koru shapes.I was thrilled when Rochelle asked me to quilt it for her.

I put trapunto behind the koru shapes, micro stippled pebbles behind them and then moved on out to larger Free Motion.

Isn’t this part at the bottom with the Pukeko cute? So Kiwi.

Rochelle is so creative she even put a very cute label on the back.

Rochelle’s entry was selected to go on tour around New Zealand. If you see the Nutex/NZ Quilter exhibition near you please go and check out Rochelle’s creation.

Well done Rochelle.

  4. Oh wow! That's simply beautiful. I love how the black highlights the fabrics and that quilting just makes everything pop. Fantastic quilt and very deserving of being in the travelling show. Well done both of you!
