New Year’s Day in New Zealand

Today dawned a little chilly but the sun has been shining and a nice cool breeze is blowing.

Our Lounge/Dining room over looks the Waikato river and on out to the mountains. It’s been lovely to see people out and about enjoying the day. The mountains are nearly without snow now.

After a cool spring plants have suddenly taken on a huge growth spurt.

Our new Dublin Bay rose has its first blooms:

This Hollyhock never ceases to enchant us with its nearly black flowers:

Our Hydrangeas are producing lots of pretty bright blooms:

All in all a promising start for the New Year.

Thanks for popping by.

  1. Lovely views, and the hollyhock, I haven't seen one that colour before, it is special. Not much snow left, and lovely cooler days here too.Enjoy 2013, Linda, may it be kind to you and yours.Fond greetings, Jean.

  2. Can we please have some of your weather! The start to 2013 has not been so kind to us here in Wellington... Very gusty. Love your coral fleece quilt - it must have an amazing texture to it.

  3. Lovely photos Linda and I particularly love the Hydrangeas as the old family home in Sydney had many of these bushes in a variety of colours. Happy New Year.

  4. Wow, I wouldn't get anything done at your house - I'd spend all my time adoring the scenery and the flowers!

I've never seen a black Hollyhock - amazingly beautiful.

  5. What a beautiful view. Thanks for sharing
