Someone to Love, Something to Do, and Something to Look Forward to

Today I’m joining up with Leanne of Cottage Tails Linky.

Someone to love:

You couldn’t help but love these two fur balls

Something to do:

Some recreational quilting. Cot panels are such fun to quilt. They go from flat and uninspiring to cute with a bit of quick stitching:

Something to look forward to:

Check out my recipe here

Thanks for the invitation to share Leanne.

Sweet Peas

Besides holding cat surgery we had some great show and tell.

Andreena’s has been busy with Christmas sewing again.

She’s such a whizz at Radiant Stars now.

Remember Trish’s Exploding Pineapples? Well check this out:

Cat Care

Serious surgery took place at our house today. Limb replacement no less!

Sweet Peas gathered together today. Debbie bought along her Grandson Rex’s favourite toy, a sock cat. Poor Puss had serious damage to his arms and a tummy hernia.

How would we fix him? Well first I found a pair of grey and pink striped socks in my sock drawer. New arms were soon fashioned, stuffed and transplanted into Puss.We made sure he had some Arnica drops to help him mend.

His tummy hernia received a patch too.

His friends are happy to see him fit and well.

I hope Rex gives him lots of cuddles tonight.

A jolly good read

I have just finished reading this book:After Cleo Came Jonah
After Cleo Came Jonah from the Book Depository
  • Some say your previous cat chooses their successor. If so, what in cat heaven's name was Helen Brown's beloved Cleo thinking when she sent a crazy kitten like Jonah? When Cleo died, Helen Brown swore she'd never get another kitten. But after she was diagnosed with breast cancer an unscheduled visit to a pet shop resulted in the explosive arrival of a feisty kitten called Jonah. Like Cleo, Jonah possessed great energy and and charm. But unlike Cleo, he often morphed into a highly strung and capricious escape artist. Still, as Helen recovered from a mastectomy, he also proved to be a healer in his own right. While struggling to deal with her own mortality, Helen helped arrange her son Rob's wedding, completed her international best-seller, Cleo, and was confronted with her eldest daughter Lydia's determination to abandon university studies to embark on a spiritual life. Lydia's desire to become a Buddhist nun in war-torn Sri Lanka was matched only by Jonah's yearning to be an outdoor cat in a decidedly indoor-cat neighbourhood...After Cleo Came Jonah is a warm, wise and often funny account of the highs and lows of mother-daughter relationships, the impact of a potentially life-threatening illness, and an often kooky - some might say deranged - cat called Jonah.
I bought this book about midday yesterday and have just finished reading it.Like Helen Brown’s first book Cleo I couldn’t put this book down. If you like cats you’ll enjoy reading this book.
Bye for now

A Regal Visit

At Christmas time we were given  potted Chrysanthemums with red and white blooms.

After Christmas we cut the plants back and popped them in the garden. They are blooming again in glorious colour. So nice that we even had a Royal visitor pop on by:

Loving the colours of Autumn just now.

PS Kara and Jenna loved their bags.

Snap Happy

Do you remember the Dolly Quilts I made? Tomorrow we are going to be visited by the girls that I made the quilts for.

I thought it would be nice to have a little girlie something for them to take home. After raiding Peggy’s stash for a nice piece of Laurel Burch I made these wee Snap Happy purses:

These purses are a doddle to make. Pop over to Just another hang up to see a tutorial.Or go to Erica's Craft (no affiliation just where I found the pattern – and they didn’t charge me an arm and a leg to post to New Zealand) and buy the Snap Happy pattern.

Once you get the hang of these you can make them any size you want. A larger one makes a super I Pad sleeve.

Well I think that is what this pattern is called.

This is a community quilt made by Taupo Quiltmakers. We try to keep a small stash of quilts to give out to people in our community who are experiencing some difficulty in their lives.

Echo flowers, leaves, loop d loops and tendrils. Edge to edge.

You wanted to see the back didn’t you?

Blue and white quilts always looks so nice don’t you think?

Exploding Pineapples

Trish popped around today. She loved the exploding Pineapples that we made on Wednesday. Her Grand daughter has requested a pink and lime green theme for the spare bedroom that she uses when she sleeps over.

Looks like the start of something very cool.

Margaret’s Menagerie

My friend Margaret makes the most wonderful imaginative, vibrant quilts for her Grandchildren.

I was thrilled when she asked me to quilt this one:

Mental note: must find better place to take photos of quilts.

Funky shapes around the chickens

Cool Cats on Kaffe

Shrek the sheep would be jealous

Butterflies peruse the flowers

Jiminy Cricket is in the garden too.

Thanks Margaret for asking me to quilt your Menagerie. It was great fun.

Lavender Garden

I have just finished quilting this darling wall hanging for Moira.

Big leaves, tendrils and loops in the rectangles and mini ones in the inner border. Nice soft McDazzle swirls in the border.

Tiny McDazzle around the stitcheries.

Such a pretty quilt, so nice to work on.

I have mail

A special ruler and patterns ordered from America. Jenny packaged my goodies really well and added a special personal touch.

Look at that. Chiffon Ribbon, a hand written note inside a piece of fabric.

How about that for presentation? So pretty – Thank you Jenny. I’m inspired to get stitching!

Thanks for popping by.

A Pineapple Explosion

Sweet Peas gathered at our house today.

We had a little stitching, learning how to construct an Exploding Pineapple Block.

A fun easy way to make a Pineapple style block. No triangles to cut and no waste.

We also dashed out to visit one of our group who recently celebrated a big something zero Birthday. We presented her with a Pineapple Blossom quilt which Sweet Peas and three other friends made for her.

So it has been a sweet pineapple flavoured day.
